Al Green
Last great soul music singer to have emerged during the seventies in the southern United States, Al Green has enjoyed since its debut a worldwide success ( "Let's Stay Together", "Sha
La La (Make Me Happy ) "," LOVE "). A personal tragedy has
made a career as a pastor. He now divides between religious (and gospel albums) and profane songs, which allow it to sing in the company of the greatest artists. Between God and dance, Al Green, and our greatest happiness, never really chose. But
since his teens, Al Green (e) shows a strong predisposition
for the Devil's music: Jackie Wilson is his idol (much to
the chagrin of his father, who surprises a day his offspring
in ecstasy before a disk that we called him the Elvis
Presley black), and creates Al Greene & the Creations, and
Al Greene & The Soul Mates, who, since 1968, experiencing
success (the single "Back Up Train" reach the Top 5, such
that Greene reclaim the title for the benefit of his first
album, produced by small ephemeral Hot Line Music label). The singer lost the 'e' end of its name, and earns the right to record some records (including a reprise of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" by The Beatles), the success sympathique. With each new album (Green Is Blues in 1970, Al Green Gets Next To You in 1971, Let's Stay Together in 1972, I'm Still In Love With You in 1973 and in 1974, Call Me, and Al Green Explores Your Mind, whose "Take Me to the River" will be taken over by Talking Heads on their second album), the singer moves up a step toward the throne of the greatest soul artist of the moment.
