The mere mention of the name of James Brown may have been a superlative,
relayed by a series of monumental nicknames ( " Godfather of Soul " " Soul Brother No. 1 " "
Mister Dynamite ") his work is no less impressive against a bloated discography (one hundred original albums recorded) and,
Most importantly, a crucial contribution to the development of black music, of rhythm and blues
soul, funk and disco, up the emergence of rap.
For half a century of activity activism and music, James
Brown asked bases sixties De La Soul in the gospel imploded into a trance music (Live at the Apollo 1962),
before defining the contours of an overheated funk with
hymns of polyrhythmic " Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag "(1965)
to "Hot Pants" (1971) and initiate the wave disco with " Sex Machine "(1970). This colorful, symbol of black success American, remained very attached to community during the race riots ( " Say It Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud "
1968), and developed to groups through an incubator for musicians: Bobby Byrd, Bootsy Collins, Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker, etc. etc..
