There are eight double stops and a direct relationship of each string to sixty-four hexagrams of the I Ching. Each branch has its own dishes. The Harp Celeste has a very strong emphasis on space. The musician must move around it. There is no beginning or end to it. Strings can be hammered, plucked, strummed, played with a slide, or played in numerous ways. It is both a stringed instrument as a percussion instrument. It is designed so that multiple people can play simultaneously. The tuning system uses a very sophisticated system. As the musician fiddles the instrument, the level rises and falls in waves. The system is tuned- 9 is a four-octave range plus two eighths auxiliaries.
